Life Transitions

Life Transitions

Life transitions tend to bring up much more for us than the change itself. Relationship changes, job transitions, moving, having a child, or losing a loved one can throw our entire world off-balance. Even if the change is positive, we can feel fear, anxiety, sadness, and other complex emotions. Facing the future often means facing the past, and transitions can also bring up thoughts of past experiences and relationships that have shaped us and led us to the present moment. You don’t have to “figure it out” on your own or deny yourself the right to have feelings. If you’re struggling with a life change, therapy is a great place to work through the many facets of the transition and get some extra support.

Some life transitions for which people seek support include:

    • Adjusting to life during and after a world-shattering pandemic
    • Relationship changes (dating, breakups, getting married, getting divorced)
    • Getting a new job or losing one
    • Contemplating a career change
    • Graduating from or going back to school
    • Moving to a new area
    • Losing a partner, friend, or family member
    • Having or adopting a child
    • Adjusting to life with a chronic illness

Let’s start with a 30-minute free consultation, and we’ll go from there.
